If you have not already entered, please use the standard AUK entry form.
You can take out a card for any day (undated) and you can pick your own date within the AUK season of taking out the card. Or, as I keep records going way back, if you have an even older card then email me and check its validity. I do appreciate a call to let me know when you plan to ride the route, I find it good to know who is suffering on the route at any time.
The start is at the Sandbanks ferry and you can get your card stamped by the toll booth on the Studland side before you set off if the guy in charge is not too grumpy that day. Note that the ferry is serviced annually in the autumn and has been having breakdowns just lately so check with the ferry (sandbanksferry.co.uk) and me if we need to agree a work around.
The ferry departure is taken as your formal start time. All the control requirements on the route are flexible, the shops and cafes listed are not always open but that doesn't matter as long as you get a verifiable stamp from the vicinity, with time of passing of course. Accordingly when you finish, any place in the Poole area is acceptable as your finish stamp. Alternatively, the ride can be started and finished at any of the control points by arrangement with me.
You need to post your completed card back to me as soon as you can after the event. Nowadays AUK have on-line recording and so your card comes back to you pretty quickly and your ride appears on your listing just as soon as John Ward gets around to endorsing my accreditation. The "Permanent" now qualifies for 2 AAA points under Audax UK's method of calculation.
NOTE: The army ranges at Creech Hill are liable to be closed at any date, but generally after 0900 and rarely at weekends. You can attempt to find out ahead of time by calling 01929 467721 and asking for the Range Wardens. IF it is closed, make a workaround as per the Sandbanks Ferry closure possibility.
